BEHIND FIREFIGHTER FRIDAY. GOOD MORNING AND THANK YOU FOR JOINING US. I’M STAR CONNOR HERE WITH DYLAN BUTLER AND DYLAN. IT’S GOING TO BE ONE OF THOSE HOT DAYS, RIGHT? ONE OF THOSE HOT SUMMER DAYS. YEAH. YOU’RE EXACTLY RIGHT. THE SUN IS ALREADY SHINING BRIGHT. JUST LIKE IN THE THE SCREEN BEHIND US THERE. YEAH, A LIVE LOOK OVER WINSTON-SALEM RECREATING THAT PICTURE THERE, WHILE NOT QUITE AS PRETTY, IT’S STILL A NICE CAROLINA BLUE SKY. YOU CAN TELL IT IS REALLY WARMING UP AS WE HEAD THROUGHOUT THE REST OF THE MORNING. IT’S 76 ALREADY IN WINSTON. IT’S ONLY JUST AFTER 8:00 ON SATURDAY MORNING. DEW POINTS ARE UP AS WELL, BACK INTO THE 60S, SO IT’S FEELING MORE HUMID OUTSIDE THAT FRONT. AS I’VE BEEN TALKING ABOUT THIS MORNING HAS DROPPED SOUTH OF THE AREA AND THAT’S SHIFTED OUR WINDS. YESTERDAY THEY WERE OUT OF THE SOUTH AND SOUTHWEST. TODAY THEY’RE OUT OF THE NORTHEAST. THAT’S A BIT OF A COOLER WIND DIRECTION FOR US. NOW. DON’T GET TOO EXCITED. IT’S STILL A WARM, WARM SATURDAY WITH HIGHS IN THE UPPER 80S LATER THIS AFTERNOON, BUT A NORTHEASTERLY BREEZE MAY BRING IN SOME SLIGHTLY LOWER DEW POINTS AND HUMIDITY. SO MAYBE ESPECIALLY IN THE SHADE, A BIT MORE COMFORTABLE OUTSIDE. THIS AFTERNOON WE’LL BE NEAR 80 DEGREES BY LUNCHTIME AND THEN UPPER 80S LATER ON. LOTS OF SUNSHINE TODAY. I EXPECT THE AREA TO BE MAINLY DRY, SO IF YOU ARE HEADING OUT LATER TODAY, BE SURE TO STAY HYDRATED. POOL ALL THE LAKE. ALL GREAT THINGS TO DO WITH DAD TOO. IT IS FATHER’S DAY WEEKEND AFTER ALL. WE’LL BE TALKING MORE ABOUT THAT FATHER’S DAY FORECAST, AND I’LL ALSO PREVIEW AHEAD AND TALK ABOUT WHEN THE 90S RETURN. COMING UP. ALL RIGHT. THANK YOU DYLAN. TIME NOW IS 802. AND A SERGEANT WITH THE DAVIE COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE IS FACING SERIOUS CHARGES THIS MORNING. STATE HIGHWAY PATROL SAYS THAT THE SERGEANT IS CONNECTED TO TWO CRASHES, INCLUDING A HIT AND RUN. OUR CHRIS PETERSEN LOOKED THROUGH THE DARK, THE COURT DOCUMENTS AND JOINS US FROM DAVIE COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE. SLURRED SPEECH AND GLASSY EYES. THAT’S JUST SOME OF THE DESCRIPTION IN THESE COURT DOCUMENTS REGARDING HANNAH WHITTINGTON. ACCORDING TO STATE HIGHWAY PATROL, SHE CAUSED TWO ACCIDENTS ON TUESDAY NIGHT. ALL WHILE DRIVING WHILE IMPAIRED. INVESTIGATORS SAY THE FIRST ACCIDENT HAPPENED JUST AFTER 930 TUESDAY NIGHT, WHEN THE PICKUP TRUCK WHITTINGTON WAS DRIVING HIT ANOTHER TRUCK ON HIGHWAY 158, IN MILLING ROAD. NEITHER DRIVER WAS INJURED IN THAT ACCIDENT. TROOPERS SAY WHITTINGTON DROVE AWAY FROM THAT SCENE AND HIT ANOTHER TRUCK ABOUT A MILE AWAY. IN THAT COLLISION, BOTH DRIVERS WERE INJURED. WHITTINGTON WAS ARRESTED BY STATE HIGHWAY PATROL, ACCORDING TO COURT DOCUMENTS. THE ARRESTING OFFICER NOTICED WHITTINGTON HAD RED GLASSY EYES, SLURRED SPEECH AND TROUBLE. FOLLOWING INSTRUCTIONS, SHE WAS GIVEN A BREATHALYZER TEST AND REGISTERED A 0.33, WHICH IS MORE THAN FOUR TIMES THE LEGAL LIMIT. WE ALSO KNOW THROUGH DOCUMENTS THAT WHITTINGTON WAS TAKEN TO A HOSPITAL AND GAVE A BLOOD SAMPLE, BUT THOSE RESULTS ARE NOT NOTED. DAVIE COUNTY SHERIFF J.D. HARTMAN CONFIRMS TO WXII THAT WHITTINGTON WORKS IN THE CRIMINAL INVESTIGATION DIVISION AT THE SHERIFF’S OFFICE. SHERIFF HARTMAN DID SHARE WITH US THAT WHITTINGTON WAS NOT ON DUTY AT THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENTS AND WAS NOT DRIVING A SHERIFF’S OFFICE VEHICLE, SHERIFF HARTMAN HAS CONFIRMED THAT WHITTINGTON HAS BEEN SUSPENDED PENDING AN INTERNAL REVIEW. WE DON’T KNOW THE CONDITION OF THE DRIVER INVOLVED IN THE SECOND CRASH, WITH WHITTINGTON. IT’S ALSO IMPORTANT TO NOTE THAT SINCE SHE WAS NEVER TAKEN TO THE DAVIE COUNTY JAIL, THERE’S NO BOOKING PHOTO AVAILABLE FOR WHITTINGTON. HER NEXT COURT DATE IS SCHEDULED FOR AUGUST SECOND IN DAVIE COUNTY. I’M CHRIS PETERSEN, WXII 12 NEWS AND IN OTHER NEWS, A MAN HAS DIED AFTER WINSTON-SALEM POLICE SAY HE SUFFERED A MEDICAL EPISODE INSIDE OF A PATROL CAR. THIS ALL STEMS FROM THURSDAY MORNING TRAFFIC STOP NEAR SHERATON STREET AND LEO STREET. POLICE SAY THEY PULLED OVER 42 YEAR OLD JACO SHULER FOR A TRAFFIC VIOLATION. THEY ASKED SHULER TO STEP OUT OF THE VEHICLE DUE TO ERRATIC BEHAVIOR WITH EVIDENCE SUGGESTING VIOLATION OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE. AUTHORITIES SAY.
