The Palms Casino Resort is running Camp Palms throughout July. Anyone aged 21 and older is invited to relieve their summer days without pesky supervision.

Where legends get exaggerated, rules get bent, and every night feels like the story you’ll be retelling for years,” the casino says of Camp Palms.

Along with being aged 21 and up, the only other registration criterion is that campers come to Vegas kid-free.

Camp Palms is a dedicated area within the off-Strip property that will operate from 5 pm until late Wednesday through Sunday. The venue is located just off the casino floor across from Scotch 80 Prime.

Camp Palms Details

Upon entering Camp Palms, campers will be engulfed in a nostalgic wilderness playground featuring towering pines, lakeside vistas, campfires, woodland creatures, and camp folklore.

Numerous cast members will attend the camp, including the overly enthusiastic Camp Director Larry, Camp Counselors Sandy and Brad, the overly flirtatious Nurse Candy, and the ever-vigilant Ranger Rick. Camp Palms will also feature “resident wildlife troublemakers” like Tokey the Bear, Foxie Roxie, and Lost Mess Lake Monster.

Camp Palms is billed as a “living, breathing summer camp experience.” The setting will include boxed meals and snacks, desserts, and bar service. Shots and Jell-O shots are part of the “Backwoods Bottle Service” offering.

The camp’s soundtrack will play classic nostalgia from the 70s and 80s, fueling sing-alongs and dancing to provide that “unmistakable feeling of summer freedom.”

There is no cover charge or camp admission, only a desire to relive one’s summer youth.

Adult Summer Camps

Adult summer camps date back decades to the 1920s, when such gatherings began as cultural, spiritual, and political retreats for grown-ups.

The modern adult summer camp movement began in the 2010s in the wake of the smartphone. With adult life becoming increasingly digitized and social media replacing some real-life social gatherings, many turned to adult camps to take much-needed breaks from their apps and to reconnect physically with both themselves and others.

More recently, adult camps have benefited from the so-called “loneliness epidemic,” a term health experts say has resulted from digital displacement, transient lifestyles, and how COVID-19 permanently altered how some interact and socialize.

In 2023, the US Surgeon General released a report titled “Our Epidemic of Loneliness and Isolation.” The report detailed how living in isolation increases the risk for premature mortality, heart disease, and type 2 diabetes by around 30%.

Humans are wired for social connection, but we’ve become more isolated over time. Social connection is as essential to our long-term survival as food and water,” the Surgeon General said.

The report recommended that individuals invest time in nurturing relationships, participate in social and community groups, and seek out opportunities to serve and support others.
